The application runs on the Android platform on a mobile tablet and provides users with a local birds-eye view of their areas of responsibility; the center of the view changes as the user changes location. Infrastructure elements ranging from emergency medical stations to fire hydrants are identified on a Google map or satellite layer. Satellite feeds are available via subscription and can provide a variety of types of visualization for the same area, such as infrared imagery or cloud cover. BAT Vision users can capture and upload photos and reports of incidents in real-time, and these incident reports can be viewed from any smartphone via web interface. Dr. Laurie Waisel is an Advisor Engineer at Concurrent Technologies Corporation (CTC) and consults across the company on a variety of existing and emerging technologies.
